Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Mrs. Rosa Lee Morton, 80, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. A visitation will be held Friday, July 14, 2023, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church (403 University Ave., Oxford, MS 38655). A funeral mass will immediately follow at 5:30 p.m., also at St. John’s Catholic Church. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. Rosa Lee was born February 6, 1943, in Greenwood, MS. She proudly attended Mississippi State University after she graduated high school. Rosa Lee was always an intelligent woman, and she worked relentlessly towards whatever she put her mind to. She was also a devoted Christian and was an active as a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Oxford and her prayer group. Rosa Lee was a kind woman who was always willing to help others. She instilled these traits into her family by her actions. She was so proud of the family and legacy that she and the love of her life, Bill, formed together. She had such a loving nature, but you also always knew where you stood with her. She took so many people under her wing and was known as a mother figure to them. However, Rosa Lee was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. In her free time, she loved gardening, cooking, shopping, and hosting family and friends. Her desserts were a special treat and loved by all. She has left a mark on so many lives, and she will be truly missed by all who knew her. Rosa Lee is survived by her husband of 61 years, George “Bill” Morton, Sr. of Oxford; her daughter, Courtney Hall of Oxford; her son, George “Will” (Tami) Morton, Jr. of Murfreesboro, TN; four grandsons, Mack Hall and Jake Hall, of Oxford, Nicholas Morton of Austin, TX, and Bennett Morton of Murfreesboro, TN; her nephew, Chris (Rachel) Phillips of Oxford; and her great-nephew, John Robert Phillips of Oxford. Rose Lee was preceded in death by her parents, John Abel Correro and Zenia Correro; and two sisters, Judy (Robert) Phillips and Elizabeth Ann Correro. Donations and memorials in honor of Rosa Lee Morton may be made to any charity of the donor’s choice.
