Marie Hutchins Redmond

Marie Hutchins Redmond was born August 5, 1939 to the late Lee Willie and Ludie Mae Hutchins. Such a beautiful young lady, she met and was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Ollie Redmond, Jr. on June 8, 1963. They were married 51 wonderful years and to this union four children were born. She loved singing in her church choir at Salem United Methodist Church where she was a faithful member until her health prevented her from attending. Her family and friends knew her to be such an excellent cook, even though she was always too modes to accept the praise. But BELIEVE her spaghetti, potato salad, cornbread dressing, banana cake and sweet potato pie were heavenly!! In 2003, she retired as the owner of Kid's Wonderland Child Care Center where she was the beloved teacher of countless "little ones". She was very proud that when her students graduated to kindergarten, they had already excelled to a 1st Grade Reading level. She was always excited to read the newspaper to see how many of the children whom she had taught in previous years were on the Dean's List or graduating with Honors. She was proud knowing that her teaching helped mold the minds of her "little ones" to firmly plant them on the road to success. On Saturday, September 27, 2014, in Oxford, MS, she gently closed her eyes and went home to be with The Lord. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted and loving husband, Ollie Redmond, Jr.; a son, Ollie Fitzgerald Redmond of Oxford, MS; two daughters, Pam Redmond Butler of Kennesaw, GA and Renee Redmond of Memphis, TN; a step-son, Willie Vaughn of St. Louis, MO; a step-daughter, Flora Dickens of Atlanta, GA; four siblings, Juanita (Robert*) Pegues, Bobby (Judie) Hutchins, Johnny (Gwen) Hutchins, all of Oxford, MS and Bernessa Pearson of Tupelo, MS; two grandchildren, Kim Johnson Walker of Kennesaw, GA and Jack Evin Butler of Kennesaw, GA; one gread-grandchild, Kennedi Wlaker of Kennesaw, GA; two brothers-in-law, Jimmie (Freddie Bell) Redmond of Oxford, MS and Ivory (Donna) Redmond of Gulfport, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her son, Ricky Bernard Redmond; her brother Billy*(Olivia*) Hutchins and her brother-in-law, Gene*(Ruby) Redmond.
